Akira Yamaoka to perform on the official Video Games Live show on Dec 13th!
DUBAI ANNOUNCEMENT! Japanese game producer & composer legend Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill, Gradius, Contra, etc.) will be one of our special guests for our upcoming December 13th Video Games Live show in Dubai! He is reading this post so please leave him a message! The show will be on Friday the 13th! I think Silent Hill, Resident Evil & BioShock would all be great games to perform!
An Introduction from the man behind the upcoming Silent Hill: Requiem short.
Due to the unbelievable positive response I have had towards my up coming Silent Hill film project, I’m seriously taken back by how the fans have reacted, very humbling, I thought I should take the time out to answer any questions that may have cropped up in people’s minds as to what it’s all about. So hopefully any queries you have will be answered here.
So firstly, who am I? I am Gareth Morgan and I have been working as a professional film maker for the past three years. I employ a unique style to the films I make, which I make purely on green screen. I have had no financial assistance in any of my work but I continue to create it regardless. I have several short films under my belt, one of which, entitled EPiSODE, premièred at Raindance 2012 (EPiSODE took heavy influence from Silent Hill as well as Deadly Premonition and Resident Evil and I am currently at the end of post production of turning EPiSODE into my first feature film)
Why Silent Hill? I am a massive gamer and Silent Hill has always been the pinnacle for me in terms of Survival Horror, (mainly the first 4 games, but that’s not to say that the others don’t hold some merits.) And due to their highly cinematic style I have always fallen back to them when I am researching Asian Horror aesthetics for whatever project I am working on. So I thought it was high time to turn my talents to making a Silent Hill film. But I didn’t want to just turn one of the games into a film as I don’t see the need, the games themselves are already films, if you know what I mean. Instead I wanted to make something fresh but that stills fits to the canon of the games universe and story structure. I want to make a film for fans by a fan.
What is Silent Hill Requiem? Basically the further adventures of Heather and other returning Silent Hill favorites. Without giving too much away, Silent Hill has been host to the Otherworld for such a long time that the gateway between the two dimensions is now permanently open and the horrors are spreading far wider than just Silent Hill and its neighboring towns. So an unknown force has brought back all those that have survived Silent Hill to help close the gateway forever, but of course that wont be an easy task.
Is Requiem a short or a movie? Initially it is a short, between 3-5 mins, I will be releasing this first as a proof of concept, starring Heather and set on the subway car first seen in SH3. This short will show how I will intend to make a full film, and how my art style will work with it. If that short is received well, and judging by the response to the recently released stills I am hopeful that it will be, I will then run a Kickstarter Campaign to raise a few thousand dollars to make it into a full film. I need this funding as a feature film is far more in depth a process than making a short, I also want to get better props and costumes for the Otherworld Monsters through using practical effects that I will enhance with graphics.
When will it be released? As the saying goes, it will be ready when its ready. I don’t want to rush any aspect of the short version as I want it to be my best work to date. I will keep updating my many social media pages of all news as I have it and the many Silent Hill pages out there are helping me with that too, so big ups to Silent Hill Heaven, Silent Haven, Silent Hill Historical Society, Silent Hill Paradise, Silent Nerd and to any others I have missed.
I hope I can make the film that you have all been waiting for and I hope this little blog posts clears up any questions you may have had.
Here are the recent stills for anyone that may have missed them =)
Gecco Corp Officially Cuts Ties With Toymunkey Studios.
Last weekend Silent Hill Paradise broke the news that Gecco Corp has terminated their partnership with Toymunkey Studios as of October 31st meaning distribution of their statues outside of Japan was left up in the air.
This news was really distressing and I was hesitant to officially report on this split until I was able to recieve confirmation from either company. Unfortunately I received confirmation of the split directly Gecco Corp’s President, Kineo Murakmai:“…we have some sad news that we terminated partnership with Toymunkey on October 31st. Therefore, the release of “Heather” and “Robbie” in US will be much delayed although we’ve already started to talk to a new distributor. It will take time, but we promise that we’ll bring the statues to you, so please look forward to it.”
Their official statement for the reasoning behind the split:Subject: Important announcement from Gecco Corp.
Dear Silent Hill fans,
Thank you very much for your patronage.
We, Gecco Corp., terminated the distributorship agreement with Toymunkey Studios, Inc. in the end of October.
Although we had requested Toymunkey to improve business operations for a while, they still don’t seem to respond in a sincere manner and cause our Silent Hill fans so much trouble.
Even though we broke up the partnership with them, we’ll keep requesting Toymunkey to improve the operations.
In Japanese market, we plan to release “Heather” in the end of this year and “Robbie” in February 2014. As for the other area than Japan, we are negotiating with several distributors, and the release will be later than Japanese portion. However, we promise that we’ll bring those statues to you. We really appreciate your patience and continued
I’m pretty sad that Toymunkey and Gecco’s partnership has ended so suddenly but given how upset many fans have been lately over their lack of communication regarding Comic Con Statue and shirt pre-orders it’s not surprising.
I’ve reached out to Toymunkey for a comment but still haven’t heard back from the company. I’m not sure if those with open orders through them can still expect shipment of their purchases or just a refund.
On the bright side Gecco Corp is in talks with another distributor so we can still expect the chance order the upcoming Heather and Robbie statues domestically. This is a big relief especially since many Japanese import shops sold out of pre-orders for Heather weeks ago.
In some other sad news it looks like the “Souvenir Robbie” will not be made available outside of Japan and after the release of Heather and Robbie no new Silent Hill statues have been planned, though we can expect more shirts and iPhone cases:As for “Souvenir Version” of Robbie you’re asking, we regret to say that we don’t have a plan to release it outside of Japan.
"After releasing Heather & Robbie, we don’t have plan for another new statues for a while, but we’ll release new T-shirts or iPhone cases."

Happy Holidays from Silent Haven! Giveaway! 4,000+ Followers! 3 Year Anniversary! Official Silent Haven Website!
It has been 3 years! Wow. Its amazing how far this site has come with over 4,000 followers and over 150,000 views! It really makes me realize what a vast community Silent Hill has and reminds me why I started blogging on here in the first place. So many dedicated fans and so many loyal followers I have. So I want to reward you guys with gifts this holiday season by hosting a Silent Hill: Past Life/Menton3 giveaway! Yes all 4 issues of Past Life Very Good to Like New condition and a brand new copy of Saltillo’s latest album “Monocyte”.
For anyone who doesnt know Silent Hill: Past Life is the most recent Silent Hill comic, taking place in the mid 19th century making it the oldest story to be told in the town of Silent Hill. The story follows a violent outlaw and his pregnant wife who move from the west to settle in the native peaceful town of Silent Hill, however they soon realize that nothing peaceful comes out of their new found dream home and discover that in Silent Hill some things in the past dont always remain in the past. Past Life features a story written by Tom Walts, who also wrote the previous comic, “Silent Hill: Sinners Reward” and also contributed to the writing behind Silent Hill: Downpour.
Past Life also features illustration work from Menton3, an amazing artist behind some fantastic graphic novels. He is also a multi-talented musician and is the sole musician behind the moniker “Saltillo”. Saltillo has released two albums, the first being Ganglion and the second being Monocyte. Saltillo is one of if not my favorite industrial, trip-hop instrumental artists that I enjoy listening to over and over again. Menton3 is also one of my all time favorite oil painters who also plays cello, viola, Banjo, violin, guitar, drums, piano, and bass as well as a slew of electronic synths on Saltillo’s albums. Monocyte is an amazing concept album that coincides as a soundtrack to his graphic novel of the same title. The album takes you on a dark, intense, atmospheric and emotional journey with some songs featuring a male narration and female vocals heard on his previous record. Saltillo is just an all around amazing artist who is multitalented and Monocyte’s atmospheric and heavy beat backed with weeping violins only leaves me wanting more. The album really has a very creepy atmospheric ambiance to it and works well as even a soundtrack to his Past Life comics! So listen while you read!

Silent Haven has contributed to a fellow Silent Hill fan who has a great passionate and ambitious project on kick-starter to directing a independent Silent Hill 2 film! You should too, even if its $1 dollar!
My name is Brett Driver. I am an Independent filmmaker that has been making films and shorts on the “low budget” scale for a little over 12 years. You can view more of my work here! www.youtube.com/brettsk8
‘LOST DAYS' is based of the hit video game Silent Hill 2. Ultimately, the story is about love and loss. I feel that it is very important for me to tell this particular story because it represents, and affects a vast majority of people that fall into their own darkness, and do battle with their own personal demons. Plus, I just feel really passionate about the subject matter. I feel as a Director it’s very important to tell a story that pulls at your heart strings and makes you feel something by the ending credits. (That’s my main mission with this project!)
I have been working on the script for more than a year, and written multiple drafts to insure perfection in my own eyes.
By donating you will be helping us make a film that myself, my crew, and actors are EXTREMELY passionate about! PLUS you get to be apart of the whole experience! What’s more exciting, and awesome than that?!
The CastSearching for the PERFECT cast is an absolute MUST on bringing an adaptation, or any film to life. You have to find Actors that are committed to the project, and are willing to bring your vision to life in every aspect. Even if it means going to really dark places.Starlin Britt James Sunderland
Lizzy Vincent Mary/Maria
Bradford Haynes Doctor Howell
THE CREWFinding the RIGHT crew is equally as important, TRUST is key. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to choose to bring this vision to life.Brett Driver Writer & Director
Theron Patrick Co-Writer & AD
Olan Rogers Director of Photography
Mary Lee Evelyn Wardrobe/Fabricator
Steven Yount Costume Design
What We Need & What You Get
For this project I have calculated, and predicted that we will need around $3,000 to make this thing a reality!
Also, by donating you will recieve some cool perk awards, so don’t think you’ll be going away COMPLETELY empty handed!
I can assure you that every cent goes into the production of 'LOST DAYS'
Not ONLY do you get to be apart of the creation of this film, but you also help out with all of the on set needs!
here’s the breakdown of where your money goes!
- Actors (These guys are important to selling the dark character roles.)
- Props (This includes Set Dressing, and vital items to sell a scene.)
- Lodging (Hotels for Cast and Crew)
- Transportation (Gas to get to and from set)
- Catering (Snacks, Food, Water)
- Wardrobe (Costumes for the actors)
- Makeup (FX makeup that sells a certain look.)
Your contributions will make such a huge difference to the look and style of the film, with the budget we are able to have a fantastic cast, awesome locations, and great help on set. I am SO used to working with little to no budget, and doing absolutely EVERYTHING myself on set. Your help is really giving me a new opportunity, and experience!
You don’t HAVE to donate to help!
I understand not everyone will be able to donate to this project, if it’s still something that sparks an interest in you, share it on social media pages like Facebook and Twitter. Just getting the word out there is payment enough!
Thank YOU so much!
Thank you guys for giving this page a view! I am so thankful for your contributions, interests, but most of all your support! This project wouldn’t have the same outcome if it weren’t for you!
You can also follow our progress on Facebook!
Let’s make an awesome project together!
Q:So for any orders we made through toymunkey (like I'm still waiting on a shirt)---are they still gonna be handled by toymunkey or will they be filled by gecco now?
Anyone with pending orders contact Japanese distributor mamegyorai at firstname.lastname@example.org. It is highly likely you will for sure not be receiving your order form Toymunkey. I would contact paypal and or your bank about a refund from the company.
Dear Silent Hill fans, thank you very much for your patronage . We Gecco Corp., Terminated the distributionship agreement with Toymunkey Studios Inc. in the end of October. I felt like I had taken the director job a little too quickly, and I lost some of my confidence in the process. We had a lot of talented people on the staff, like [creature designer] Masahiro Ito, [cutscene director] Takayoshi Sato and [musician and later series producer] Akira Yamaoka, and to some extent, I felt like my design work was more getting in the way of their talents than anything else. So I moved to SCE with the intention of re-learning my job from the ground up…. I’ve worked on horror for a long time, Whenever I work on something different, I can’t help but come up with new horror-oriented ideas. So I’d like to make another horror game someday, but the thing is, unlike in the past, I think it’s become kind of hard to make horror games. To some extent, horror is a good match for the ‘B’ genre, in terms of taking advantage of low budgets for the maximum return and maximum quality. However, we’re now in an environment where B-grade titles are simply being priced out of the retail-software market. I think making a pure horror AAA console title is going to be really difficult going into the future. Instead, if I have a chance to make something like Journey that you can complete in two or three hours, but still offers an intense horror experience, I’d love to try that.
